What is it?
In July 2025, the Department for Education (DfE) released updates to the statutory guidance for Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE). This guidance outlines what schools should teach their pupils about these topics.
Schools have until September 2026 to adapt their curriculum to reflect these updates.
What are the changes?
Some updates to the RSHE curriculum include:
- Updated content on Online Safety
- LGBTQ+ inclusion
- References to AI literacy and deepfake imagery
- Focus on tackling misogyny, incel culture and the harmful nature of pornography
- Inclusion of personal safety, inclusive of fire and travel safety, as well as knife crime and conflict resolution
